The business was growing fast and needed more space: new premises were opened in via Castel Flavon. An old 13th-century manor house became home to production, offices and a show room and sales area.
The Thuns handed over the running of the company to their second child, Peter. This marked a new period of growth for the company with the decision to build a new production plant.
THUN's current headquarters were opened in Via Galvani to meet with the company's needs in terms of space and logistics.
THUN Srl became THUN Spa and staff numbers grew to 150.
The birth of a special range of cups and coffee cups, “Caffè al volo”, destined for immediate success.
The friends of THUN continued to grow in number... with the nature of their letters and messages becoming increasingly personal, reflecting a special affection. Lene and Peter decided to found a club especially for them... the THUN CLUB!
THUNIVERSUM was built in Bolzano, next to THUN's main headquarters. Designed by Matteo Thun, this is a charming area in which to welcome the fans of THUN in the best way possible. It includes a THUN Store and other different areas, such as the “Caffè al volo” Bistro and a Factory Outlet.
THUN inaugurated its first franchise shop, which would soon go on to become a highly successful chain of single-brand stores that now amount to more than 300 points of sale.

Confirming the commitment to the protection of endangered species, a pair of Iranian Leopards are adopted and soon after the green oasis that is home to a Red Panda family is created.

THUN Club renews its commitment to the animals at risk of extinction, restructuring the oasis that is home to the Red Pandas in the Natura Viva Park in Bussolengo (Vr). The inauguration is celebrated with the "In the Footsteps of the Red Panda" event, which brings thousands of members to visit the Verona area Park.

The Countess Lene Thun Foundation ONP continues to open the ceramic therapy workshops to the paediatric oncology wards in Italy reaching a number of 20.
At the end of the year, it participates in the decoration of the Christmas tree in St. Peter's Square at the Vatican, with the baubles made by children during the workshops.
About fifty will be opened throughout Italy by year end with direct management. Worth a mention is the inauguration of the new THUN Shop in via Cola di Rienzo, in Rome, which will host many famous guests from the entertainment world, such as Cristina Chiabotto: a strategic opening for the brand which becomes part of the heart of shopping in Rome.
